There have been some interesting developments regarding Netflix recently. Inside Redbox showed in an article by Audioholics that Panasonic will be adding Netflix to its 2010 Viera televisions and Blu-ray players.
According to an article on CNET, the Netflix availability will be in addition to other programs such as Twitter and Skype that are part of Panasonic’s Viera Cast. The Netflix update is only for the 2010 Panasonic televisions, though.

In my previous blog post, I discussed how the latest form of the Apple TV device works with Netflix. This Netflix addition to the 2010 Panasonic Viera televisions is just a reinforcement of how powerful and broad Netflix as a company is becoming. They are adding their name to a lot of these products and expanding their availability.
Also, with the addition of Netflix to these televisions, Netflix is now targeting a wider audience. It’s no longer necessarily just those who use the Internet. It now can be targeted to anyone who likes to use their television, granted they have a 2010 Panasonic Viera. I think this is a strong move for Netflix.
In other industry news, a major resignation took place. Blockbuster’s Chief Financial Officer Thomas Casey resigned, according to Inside Redbox from an article by Home Media Magazine.
This latest development for Blockbuster shows how the company is struggling greatly right now. The once mighty goliath of a company that seemed to be the leader in the industry has fallen upon tough times.
So can Netflix continue putting its name on more and more products, and what will come of Blockbuster? It will certainly be interesting to watch.
